From Broken to Beloved: The Story of Bones

This is not just a story of survival—it’s a story of transformation.

When we first met Bones (though he had a different name then), he was barely a shadow of the dog he is today. His body was ravaged by starvation, his spirit crushed by neglect. At just two years old, he had already endured more suffering than any living creature should.

A Life of Neglect

In July 2024, we discovered him in a home where he had been left emaciated, filthy, and sick. His ribs and hip bones jutted out painfully. His coat was dull, his nails grotesquely overgrown, and he was confined to a crate far too small for his frame. His owner claimed he was "just a thin dog," but the truth was far darker: he was slowly wasting away from a severe worm infestation and possible bowel obstruction—likely from eating rags or socks out of desperation.

We rushed him to the vet, where the medical team was horrified by his condition. He weighed **30 pounds underweight**, his energy was nonexistent, and his body was fighting just to stay alive. Despite the staggering vet bills, we refused to give up on him.

A Glimmer of Hope… Then Betrayal

After days of medication, love, and proper food, he began to improve. Reluctantly, we returned him to his owner, praying the neglect had been unintentional. We were wrong.

Months later, in the dead of winter, we found him **wandering the frozen streets**, abandoned. His owner had left town, leaving him to fend for himself in the snow. His pressure wounds were open, his body skeletal once more. His kennel was caked in feces. There was no food. No water. No warmth. No mercy.

That was the day we said: Never again.

The Dog He Was Always Meant to Be

Today, Bones is a living testament to resilience. With proper care, nourishing meals, and unconditional love, he has blossomed into a vibrant, joyful soul. His eyes, once dull with pain, now sparkle with curiosity. His body, once broken, now wags with energy. He has learned what it means to be safe—to be loved.

But his journey isn’t over yet.

He’s Ready for You

Bones deserves a true forever home—one that will cherish him as fiercely as he will cherish you. He’s housebroken, and gets along well with other dogs (after proper introductions). He loves toys, belly rubs, and sticking close to his people.

This sweet boy has fought so hard to trust again. Now, he’s ready to give all that love back to someone who will never let him down.

Could that someone be you?

If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will remind you every day of the power of second chances, Bones is waiting.

Adopt him. Love him. Let him show you just how bright his future can be.
